FAQs

Here are the most common questions I get from clients. You can find my general answers below, but a more personal answer is often more helpful. If you have additional questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

How do I get started?

The first step in starting therapy with me is to schedule a free 15-minute consultation call. This call gives you a chance to share a little more about what brings you to therapy at this time and for me to share more with you about my practice, as well as answer any questions you may have.

What can I expect in my first session?

  • Individual sessions are typically 45 minutes. In the first session we will discuss in more detail what brings you to therapy and what current struggles you experience at this time.

  • Couple therapy typically begins with a joint session to explore the reasons for seeking treatment followed by one-on-one sessions with each partner, and ending with a joint feedback session in which we discuss the couple's goals and plan.

  • Family therapy is most effective when identifying a goal that is shared across family members. I will take the time to get to know members of your family and create a treatment plan that will fit your needs. While every family is different, EFFT is ideally weekly or biweekly, with an average number of approximately 4 to 12 sessions lasting 1-2 hours.

How much do you charge and do you accept insurance?

  • Session fees range depending on your need and we will discuss fees during our consultation call.

  • I am out-of-network for all insurances. To learn about your out-of-network benefits, you can call the number on the back of your insurance card and ask them if you have a deductible and/or if you have a co-payment. Services may be covered in full or in part by your insurance. I will provide an invoice each month containing all the information required to process your claim.

  • Payment is expected at each session and is collected through a HIPAA compliant platform.

How long will therapy take?

The length of time varies per person. My attitude is to try to make every session count, so that critical issues may be effectively addressed and pain decreased as soon as possible. We will continuously check-in to see how you feel that you are progressing with your goals.

What is Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)?

The answer is pretty long! I suggest you check out my Blog to get a feel for the answer. If you want a more complete head to toe description, check out this page.
